Super Bowl LII and 2018 NFL Playoffs Ticket Demand – January 19th, 2018

NFL fans could not ask for much more from the Divisional Round playoff games this past weekend. In the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles accomplished a rare Divisional Round home upset against the Atlanta Falcons while the Minnesota Vikings pulled through with a last-second touchdown win against the New Orleans Saints that many are deeming the “Minnesota Miracle”. In the AFC, the New England Patriots took care of business on their way to yet another AFC Championship Game while the Jacksonville Jaguars stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in a shootout.

We are now down to just four teams with 16 days until Super Bowl LII as the AFC/NFC Championship games taking place this Sunday, January 21st.

NFC GAME CONTINUES TO TREND AS THE MOST POPULAR CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHUP

The 2018 AFC/NFC championship games feature highly anticipated matchups and demand is high, ticket sales for both are trending to outpace last year. The NFC Championship game continues its four-year streak of being the most popular matchup compared to the AFC game.

With a home Super Bowl still at play and the Viking’s miracle win against the Saints in the Divisional Round, Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles is driving strong demand and excitement for both dedicated fan bases. Ticket sales on StubHub for the 2018 NFC championship are up 2% from last year’s matchup (Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons) and 34% higher than the 2018 AFC championship. This year’s NFC game also boasts a lower price tag than the AFC game with a -6% difference in the average ticket price sold.

As Super Bowl veterans, the New England Patriots make their 7th consecutive appearance in the AFC Championship game to face underdogs, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ticket sales on StubHub compared to last year’s AFC championship (Pittsburgh Steelers @ New England Patriots) are up 39%. The reason? Florida buyers are driving a considerable amount of ticket sales making up 21% of ticket buyers vs 23% from the state of Massachusetts, proving to be a highly anticipated moment for Jaguar fans.
