With the series at 3-1, the Washington Capitals and Vegas Golden Knights will travel back west to play Game 5 tonight (6/7) in Las Vegas as StubHub sees record numbers for finals. Driven by a competitive start to the series, along with unique ticket demand dynamics in each market, the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals will be the most popular NHL Final ever on StubHub.
Scott Jablonski, General Manager of NFL, NBA and NHL for StubHub says of the record: “We’ve seen a perfect storm in this year’s Stanley Cup Finals that is driving unprecedented demand on StubHub. One franchise is looking to make history by winning a title in its first season vs. another that’s seeking its first Cup in 44 years. We haven’t seen anything like it and the buzz from both markets to see history being made is extraordinary.”
Fans emulate this very anticipation outside T-Mobile arena, where StubHub is set up for each Knights home game to help hand out tickets – check out the energy when unsuspecting fans are surprised with tickets to a game:
Until this series, the record NHL series sales on StubHub was held by the 2014 Cup Finals between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings. At StubHub, we took a deeper dive into the trends to show what is driving the record-setting demand for Stanley Cup Final tickets:
WHAT IS DEMAND LOOKING LIKE COMPARED TO RECENT YEARS?
- Sales are 10% higher than StubHub’s previous record holder, the 2014 series between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings.
FANS ARE BUYING FROM EVERY STATE AND OVER 20 COUNTRIES
- Nevada pulls in the most demand in terms of ticket sales.
- StubHub has had a purchase from all 50 states including Puerto Rico and 21 different countries for the games so far.
While we continue to see fans come from near and far and wait to see which historical moment we’ll be lucky to witness, we will continue to watch the sales trends rise.
Stay tuned to the StubHub press box for more updates as the series continues for the fight for the cup.
