More than 100 Million Transactions on StubHub and Countless Memories Made
Today StubHub marked a major milestone: providing more than 100 million live event memories to fans globally. To celebrate, we’re revisiting some of the most cherished memories that fans have shared with us over the last 18 years and commemorating them with bespoke posters created by artists who have designed some of the most iconic live event posters in history.
We enlisted artists from Big Picture Design, the studio that has designed posters for decades for the famed San Francisco music venue, The Fillmore. The Fillmore’s event posters are world-renowned and considered collectibles due to their unique style. The posters commissioned by StubHub will feature the work of artists Matthew Fleming, Reuben Rude, Chad Grohman, Molly Kars, and Scrojo.
The fans whose stories are captured in the posters span a range of genres and cities:
Matt Cutshall, Fleetwood Mac fan (Los Angeles)
Matt crossed off a bucket list item while on a trip when his girlfriend surprised him with tickets to the Classic East Festival, where Fleetwood Mac was performing. As social media influencers, Matt and his girlfriend have had the opportunity to experience countless memorable experiences but Matt ranks this among his favorites.
“Live events are beyond important. It creates an amazing memory that you only get once in a lifetime,” said Matt. “There is a huge difference between hearing the album through headphones and hearing it in person. It’s an experience versus just loving the song. It was my first time seeing Fleetwood Mac. It was an awesome, awesome surprise to see Stevie Nicks right there. It’s definitely top three memories of my life.”
Eric Hearn, NFL and Oakland Raiders fan (Las Vegas)
A die-hard Raiders fan, originally from Los Angeles, Eric’s last trip to see his team at the Oakland Coliseum was particularly special. He brought his mom, who is also a Raiders fan but hadn’t been to a game in decades, to celebrate her beating breast cancer.
“The best part about being at a live event is the other fans, the atmosphere, the smells, the sights, the things you don’t get at home sitting on the couch, watching it on TV,” said Eric.
Denise Wiggins, Theater fan (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
After having dinner plans in New York cancelled last second, Denise decided on a whim to visit StubHub’s store in Times Square and ended up seeing two shows back to back: “Come from Away” and “The Band’s Visit.” This experience kicked off a lifelong love of Broadway.
“Music, in general, makes you come alive. It makes you feel good and you get to escape a little bit of what maybe is happening in your reality,” said Denise.
Greg Chickman, Los Angeles Dodgers fan (San Mateo, California)
Greg had the bonding experience of a lifetime when he took his son to see the Dodgers in the World Series last year, an event that can come around only once in a fan’s lifetime.
“When you’re [at the World Series] – not only is it a huge party, which is just the time of your life – but you’re making instant friends, you’re high-fiving people that you don’t know who they are, you’re hugging people…there’s nothing like it, said Greg. “This is a night we’ll never forget that we’ll share together.”
