Super Bowl LIII Ticket Prices Remain Steady; Tom Brady and Patriots Lead Over Goff and Rams in eBay Merchandise

2,900 tickets still available; Get-in prices hover around $2,500

Published January 31, 2019

We’re three days out from the big game and – dare we say – may this be the calm before the storm?  The weather is slowly warming up in Atlanta but little has changed in ticket trends since we reported last.  Our friends at eBay have some fun stats about how this weekend’s big game may be influencing sales of QB jerseys, collectors cards and more.

Today’s stats::

  • 2900 tickets currently available on StubHub
  • The average price of tickets sold is $4,555 – mostly remaining steady from one day to the next.
  • Get-in price is $2,517 for Upper Corner – down slightly from yesterday by $40 and up $200 from Monday.
  • 17 countries have purchased tickets, +1 over the last few days with tickets purchased from a new buyer in Dominica.
  • The least expensive ticket sold is currently $2,000 for upper corner; most expensive sold remains at $20k for SunTrust Club.

As the big day nears, people are getting their gear for the game. eBay shares that Tom Brady jersey sales have increased at a much quicker rate than Jared Goff. In fact, Brady has sold 15x more jerseys on eBay than Goff in the 2018-2019 NFL season.

When it comes to legacy, Brady’s rookie trading card value has skyrocketed over the last few years, anywhere from 3 to 16 times in value. Last February, a 2000 Tom Brady Playoff Contenders card sold for $250,000 on eBay, becoming the highest price paid for a collectible. The exact same Brady rookie card was bought by a previous owner in 2015 for just $15,000, representing a price increase of more than 1,500% in three years.

“Love him or hate him, Tom Brady is the GOAT of sports memorabilia,” said Sam Bright, VP of Sports, Collectibles and Memorabilia at eBay. “Goff is green, but we’re seeing sales of his merchandise heat up as he prepares to face Brady on the biggest stage. But in a head-to-head QB matchup, not even Peyton Manning can come close to what Brady commands as he chases his sixth ring.”

Tom Brady aside, the New England Patriots sold nearly three times as much merchandise on eBay than the Los Angeles Rams this NFL season, and more than twice as much 146% more in the past month.
